THE PROCESS

01 BRIEF 02 MEASURE 03 BUILD 04 FIT + REFINE

From first contact to final fit—this is how a Loft Customs project moves through the shop.

  • STEP 1

The Brief

It starts with a conversation, but it moves with the Brief Form. The online form captures exactly what we need—boat type, specific gear requirements, material preferences, and your hard deadline.

The Brief Form is the filter. Fill it out once, and we can provide an estimate quickly. It is the fastest way to get your project into our queue.

Measurement & Design

For patterning and measuring we can arrange visits to the yacht, but if the yacht is unavailable for visits we can work from CAD drawings, high-resolution photos and precise measurements.

We have completed entire projects remotely by liaising with crew on board and designers like covers package for CS125 Skorpios during COVID travel restrictions.

We don’t just take numbers; we always look for the best solutions by innovating but also relying on our 30 years of experience of what works and what fails at sea.

The Build

Your project enters the build queue only when the estimate is approved and the 50% deposit is received. We operate on a strict first-come, first-served basis—your deposit secures your slot in the Loft.

Lead times are typically 6–8 weeks from the date the deposit lands, depending on the scale of the fit-out. We provide honest timelines and we deliver on them. We don't make promises we can't keep, and we don't bump your slot because a bigger boat showed up.

Materials are ordered the moment the deposit is confirmed. We use a variety of high-performance technical fabrics. We are happy to discuss options, but we will always recommend the material that best suits the brief and survives the environment.

STEP 4

Fit + Refine

For local projects, we fit on the boat and make final adjustments on-site. For remote projects, we ship with detailed installation guidance. Minor tweaks are sometimes part of the process—we want the kit perfect, not just finished.

The Requirements

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

A Realistic Timeline

If you need covers for a May launch, tell us in January—not April. Covers are often the last thing thought of in a refit, but by the time most people call, our build schedule is full.

A Single Point of Contact

We require one decision-maker. Projects fail when information is split between officers, bosuns, and captains. Decide who is calling the shots and let them talk to us.

The Loft Standard on Pricing

Every boat is different; therefore, every brief is custom-priced. You are paying for design and labour—the material is a fraction of the cost. The value is in the three decades of Grand Prix experience that go into every pattern and every detail that makes the gear fit like it was born on the boat.
